  • Centre will help T.N. to clean rivers: Mahesh Sharma

Summary: The Central government will work with the State government to clean rivers in Tamil Nadu, Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Mahesh Sharma said here on Saturday. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function organised at a private college near the city, Mr. Sharma said the Centre was implementing various projects only for the welfare of the people. If at a few places the residents had apprehensions about the projects and protested, it was the duty of the officials of the departments concerned to allay the apprehensions. The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party submitted a memorandum regarding the damages done to the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and Naganatha Swamy Temple in Manavadi, Kumbakonam, and urged the Centre to seek an explanation from the State. Addressing college students, he said that under the Prime Minister’s Sankalp Se Siddhi and New India Movement 2017-22 pledge, they should take a pledge to free the country of poverty, communalism, corruption, casteism and filth.
