more-in There was no difference among the three factions of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam - AIADMK (Amma) led by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) led by former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, and the led by deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, said Anbumani Ramadoss, MP and youth wing president of Pattali Makkal Katchi. He told reporters at the airport here on Sunday before kick starting a rally his party had organised to create awareness on the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme, that all the three factions were subservient to the Central Government as well. This cost the State dearly as its rights were getting eroded. The awareness rally was to prevail upon the State Government to implement the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme - a 55-year-old dream - that would benefit people in three districts in the State. Of the 20 to 100 tmc Bhavani water that drained into the sea, only 1.2 tmc was required and his party would not hesitate to launch an agitation if the State Government delayed starting the work. Commenting on dengue fever cases across the State, he accused the State Government of trying to hide facts. Mr. Ramadoss then started his rally in Thekkampatty, near Mettupalayam. Staff Reporter from Tirupur adds: Mr. Ramadoss slammed the voters in beneficiary areas of Athikadavu- Avinashi Flood Flow Canal Scheme for voting alternatively for AIADMK and DMK despite the parties repeatedly not fulfilling pre-poll promise of implementing the scheme. “The delay in the implementation of the scheme could have been avoided if the voters had exercised their franchise wisely, voting for some other alternative parties,” he said at Avinashi on Sunday. “The alignment which the government now projects is not a feasible idea since it involves pumping of water from Kalingarayan area. I don’t know how it would work considering that the area resembles a camel’s hump”, he said. He asked why the AIADMK government, which plans to use nearly Rs. 3,500 crore for procuring set-top box for cable network and spend thousands of crores to distribute freebies, could not find the nearly Rs. 3,500 crore needed for the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme much earlier. “When the then Chief Minister Kamaraj took initiative for the project, the expenditure estimated was only Rs. 10 crore. Due to the lethargy of the subsequent governments, the project works did not commence and the cost went up with every year of delay,” he said. Later, speaking at Perundurai, Mr. Ramadoss said the State was in ICU and youth should raise to rescue it. The State needs check dams across rivers.
