more-in Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) is developing an industrial park at Kallapalayam and about 100 industries are expected to come up at the park. However, there are reports of a proposal to set up a Tasmac outlet in the area and this is a matter of concern to the industries. The association has appealed to the district Administration not to set up the outlet in that area. CODISSIA president V. Sundaram has pointed out that the industrial layout plan for the park is in the final stage of approval by the State Government. Infrastructure works are expected to start immediately after that for common facilities and the plots will be handed over to the member units by the end of December this year. The Tasmac outlet is said to come up on SF No. 139, 101 and 100, which will be surrounded by the park (plots for industries are located on the east, south, and northern sides of the outlet). A kuttai belonging to the Public Works Department is located on SF No. 100. Temples are also located very close to the proposed outlet. Problems Hence, setting up a Tasmac outlet will create problems to the public. It might affect implementation of the project as employees and workers involved in the infrastructure work could face hardships. The materials for the work might not be safe too. Members of the association who visited the park site have expressed their objection to setting up of the Tasmac outlet near the park. They fear it will disturb industrial peace in that area. Hence, the district administration should cancel permission for the Tasmac outlet there, he has said.
