COIMBATORE: A four-member gang chased two men in full public view and hacked them to death at Selvapuram North in Coimbatore on Friday afternoon.The deceased have been identified as S Selvam alias Selvaraj, 35, of Selvapuram and his friend T Anand, 32, an autorickshaw driver.Selvam, who was an accused in the murder of Vinodh of Selvapuram, came out of Coimbatore Central Prison three days ago on conditional bail.Friends of Vinodh hatched a plan to murder Selvam and followed him on two motorcycles on Friday.Selvam was chatting with Anand when the gang approached them. Both of them tried to escape from the gang in Anand's autorickshaw. However, the gang followed them and attacked them with sickles. The duo got down from the autorickshaw and ran.The gang waylaid them and hacked them with sickles. Anand died on the spot. Selvam entered an apartment complex to escape from the gang. However, the gang members chased and hacked him.Selvam, who suffered deep injuries on his head, was rushed to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital where he died without responding to treatment.The four-member gang surrendered before the Selvapuram police. The police registered a case. Further investigations were on.
