Orissa Board all set for matriculation exams

A three-tier security system has been put in place and as many as 95 squads have been formed to keep a tab on the exam centres. "At least seven examination centres will be used as polling booths in Bijepur. For the first time, lecturers have been included in the squads, which will conduct surprise raids on exam centres to check malpractice. "A team of officials will run the control room 24X7 till the completion of the examination," said a board official. The board also conducted special a training session of the squad members to train them about their roles, duties and responsibilities on Wednesday.

CUTTACK: Elaborate measures have been taken by Board of Secondary Education to ensure smooth conduct of matriculation examination in the state, which kicks off from February 23.At least 5.90 lakh students will appear the examination at 2818 exam centres across the state and the board has not left any stone unturned to make the examination process error-free and hassle-free.To ensure proper monitoring and check malpractice the board has introduced some reforms this time. For the first time, lecturers have been included in the squads, which will conduct surprise raids on exam centres to check malpractice. A three-tier security system has been put in place and as many as 95 squads have been formed to keep a tab on the exam centres."There will be zero tolerance for malpractice this time. No leniency will be shown to the students caught for cheating and the teachers found facilitating malpractice," said board's president, Jahan Ara Begum All centre superintendents have been asked to ensure that no outsider is allowed to move around 200-metre radius of the examination centre. Besides, proper frisking of the students will also be carried out.The board has issued special advisories to collectors and police superintendents of Maoist infested districts to take adequate security measures for smooth conduct of examination in their respective districts. As by-poll will be held in Bijepur assembly constituency on February 24, the board has made special arrangements to ensure that examination is conducted in the area without any hurdle."At least seven examination centres will be used as polling booths in Bijepur. We have directed the collector to send poll officials to the centres only after completion of the exam on February 23 and they will have to vacate the premises by February 24 night," said Begum. As February 25 is a gap, the board can make re-arrangements at the centres for the exam. After February 23, the next exam will be held on February 26.To ensure effective and efficient monitoring of the examination process, a special control room has been set up at the board office here. All officials involved in the examination process have been directed to report any kind of irregularity or problem related to the exam immediately to the control room."A team of officials will run the control room 24X7 till the completion of the examination," said a board official. Along with it, the board has also introduced a new system this time under which the examination centre superintendents have to submit all information related to the exam to the board office online by 3 pm on each exam day. The board also conducted special a training session of the squad members to train them about their roles, duties and responsibilities on Wednesday. "Adequate measures have been taken to conduct the examination properly," said Begum.
