Pre-monsoon rain lashes in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Pre-monsoon rain lashed some places in the state on Friday. Prior to that, several places of the state will receive rainfall, he added.He said the state will receive normal rainfall this year of 116 cm. It will help the farmers in agriculture purposes.Due to the impact of the pre-monsoon rain, except Sonepur (40.4 degrees Celsius), mercury levels at other places in the state remained under 40 degrees Celsius. The IMD had issued lightning warning for 13 districts including Dhenkanal, Balasore, Angul and Khurda.IMD Bhubaneswar director HR Biswas said pre-monsoon rain will create a favourable condition for the onset of monsoon in the state. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack witnessed cloudy sky during the daytime.Weathermen said Dhenkanal received 28mm of rain followed by Talcher (27 mm), Baripada (22.4 mm) and Balasore (4 mm) on Friday.

The intensity of rain will increase after June 4. Heavy rain will occur at some places of the state before monsoon finally arrives here, he added.The weatherman said the IMD will analyse the condition and inform about the actual date of arrival of monsoon. It may enter Odisha between June 5 and 10. Prior to that, several places of the state will receive rainfall, he added.He said the state will receive normal rainfall this year of 116 cm.
