CUTTACK: A forty five year old contractor was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his home on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Biswabhusan Singh and he had sustained bullet injury on his head.Preliminary investigation of police suggests that Singh committed suicide by shooting himself. Police said Singh was sitting on the sofa in his house, located at Kalyan Nagar under Madhupatna police limits, in the morning hours. His wife and other family members were busy in doing household works when suddenly they heard a loud sound.The family members immediately rushed to the room where Singh was sitting and found him lying in a pool of blood. A pistol was found near him. Though they rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.Family members have told police that Singh was reportedly under mental stress over the past six months and used to stay aloof. He has sustained some losses in his business and was depressed over it. “ His wife and other family members have given statement to us that Singh was stressed over the past few months. His business was going through a bad phase and he was depressed over it,” said a police official.Police have ruled out any foul play in the incident. “It seems to be an incident of suicide. Still we are investigating the case from all angles ,” said DCP, Akhileshwar Singh.It is being suspected that he might have committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver. Police said the arm recovered from Singh was his licensed gun.Upon getting information, police rushed to the spot and interrogated Singh’s family members. Police will also probe into his business transactions to find out the exact cause behind his death.“We will try to ascertain whether it was financial loss that forced the contractor to take the extreme step or there was some other reason,” said a police officer.
