Odisha: Vigilance sleuths trace assets worth Rs 3.85 crore from RTO

So far, vigilance have traced movable and immovable assets worth Rs 3,85, 75, 326 from Behera’s residences. Besides, the vigilance sleuths have also found that Behera possesses bank deposits of Rs over Rs 47 lakh. Along with it, gold jewellery of worth Rs 3.90lakh and cash of Rs 3.44 lakh was recovered from Behera’s residence.The vigilance officials also found documents which reflect that Behera owns seven land plots in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and a flat in Bhubaneswar. The market value of the immovable property is over Rs 2 crore.“Preliminary investigation reveals that the traced property is definitely much more than his known sources of income. The sleuths also raided his apartment at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar and his in-law’s house at Binjharpur in Jajpur district.During the search, vigilance officials traced that Behera owns four luxurious cars, including a Mercedes Benz car, with market value of Rs 40 lakh.

CUTTACK: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday unearthed assets worth Rs 3.85 crore after conducting raids on the houses and office of regional transport officer ( RTO ) of Dhenkanal district, Basant Kumar Behera.Vigilance conducted the raids on Behera’s residences and office after receiving allegations that he has amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.At least five teams of the anti-corruption wing conducted simultaneous raids in five places including Behera’s office in Dhenkanal town, his residential house at Ranihat, Cuttack and the government quarter of his wife. The sleuths also raided his apartment at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar and his in-law’s house at Binjharpur in Jajpur district.During the search, vigilance officials traced that Behera owns four luxurious cars, including a Mercedes Benz car, with market value of Rs 40 lakh. Besides, the vigilance sleuths have also found that Behera possesses bank deposits of Rs over Rs 47 lakh. As investigation is still on it would not be proper to say anything more on it,” said a senior vigilance officer.The vigilance official said after completion of raids and proper assessment of Behera’s properties in detail, a case will be filed against him. So far, vigilance have traced movable and immovable assets worth Rs 3,85, 75, 326 from Behera’s residences.
