"This year the demand of silver rakhis is very high. "This year we made 400 silver rakhis out of which 256 have been sold. CUTTACK: Silver filigree rakhis have been the talk of Cuttack town ahead of the festivals, with siblings preferring to tie longer lasting emblems of their love than those afforded by cotton threads."This year the demand of silver rakhis is very high. They are long lasting and affordable," said Pupun Maharana, owner of a city-based jewellery shop. Filigree rakhis inset with colorful stones having been selling out like hot cakes. "This year we made 400 silver rakhis out of which 256 have been sold. The cost of silver rakhis range from Rs 150 to Rs 2,200, depending on the size, the design and the weight," added Maharana.The longlasting capacity of silver makes it the biggest draw."They were very expensive. So I bought two silver rakhis for my two brothers. I want my brothers to be able to sport the rakhis at all times, so this was a great way of ensuring that," said Meenakshi Gupta, who was seen at a jewellery store in Mangalabag.
