'Momo Challenge' whiff in youth slashing wrist

CUTTACK: A 22-year-old youth was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital on Monday after he slashed his right hand with a sickle.The family of the youth alleged that he had harmed himself as part of the online game ' Momo Challenge '.The victim was identified as Sunil Das , a native of Bayalish Mouza on the outskirts of Cuttack . Sunil, who works in a private company here, was found by his parents in a pool of blood in his bedroom at 5 am.They rushed him to SCB, where he was operated upon.He is stable now, said a doctor."The tendons in Sunil's right hand have been damaged. A surgery was conducted and the tendons repaired," said B N Moharana, emergency officer of SCB. "His family told us he tried to kill himself for some online game. A team of psychiatrists will examine him later," Moharana added.The youth's father Basudev Das said Sunil had been depressed since last week. "He was always immersed in his phone.
