Today the journey to Sabarimala temple is not that difficult and women can visit the temple,” said the spiritual leader.“All our practices had a scientific reason behind it. He dogged the question about his reaction on the verdict by replying, “I will have to study the matter in detail to give the reply,” added Ravi Shankar. It took many days and even weeks to reach the temple. People had to walk on foot to reach the temple in those days and the journey would have been all the more strenuous for women in their menstruating days. Keeping in mind the scenario of ancient days, the practice was applicable then but it holds no ground today,” said Sri Sri Ravi Shankar appealing the bodies opposing it to treat the verdict with a very pragmatic and rational manner. The spiritual leader, however, hesitated to express his views on the Supreme Court’s verdict on adultery.
