Odisha cops ask lesbian couple wanting to marry to go their separate ways

"We asked the women to go their separate ways but they're determined to be together," Pattamundai police station IIC Pramod Mallick said. In their statement on Monday, Monalisa said she had not been kidnapped and her father's allegation was false. Neither police nor our parents have any right to oppose our relationship. We will commit suicide if anybody separates us," they told media.But police are acting on the complaint filed by Antrajami Nayak and is set to produce the women in court at Pattamundai to record their statements on Tuesday. "We are adults and live together.

KENDRAPADA: A same-sex couple living in Bhubaneswar for the last four years were 'found' by police in a working women's hostel on Monday after the father of one of the girls lodged a complaint saying his daughter, Monalisa Nayak (27), was kidnapped by Sabitri Parida (26).Sabitri and Monalisa had on Saturday filed an affidavit before notary magistrate at Kendrapada and sought permission to marry. In their statement on Monday, Monalisa said she had not been kidnapped and her father's allegation was false."We are adults and live together.
