CUTTACK: The Government Railway Police (GRP) is in a quandary regarding the probe into the alleged gang-rape of a 15-year-old girl by five youths in the city. Initial findings suggest the girl may have fabricated her story, particularly her alleged confinement in a house in Mangalabag area since Saturday. The girl alleged she was a Class X student who was brought to Cuttack by two of her acquaintances from her village in Angul and 'sold' to five youths who held her captive and repeatedly raped her. However, her mobile phone records point to a different story. The superintendent of GRP, K C Dangayat, had sought the assistance of commissionerate police. While sifting through the girl's phone call records, the police found she had reached the city around noon on Tuesday. On reaching Badambadi, she had proceeded via Bajrakbati Road and reached the area around SCB Medical College and Hospital.Later, she went to the railway station where she was spotted around 1.30 pm. There were incoming and outgoing calls from her phone, raising question mark about her alleged confinement. Police have also traced the girl's parents to Sundargarh district and an Aadhaar card indicated she was born in 1997, which would put her age to around 21 and not 15 as she had claimed. A report sent by Cuttack police to the GRP carries statement from the girl's father in which he said that she had gone missing from home nearly a month back. Call records of her phone indicated she had left Sundargarh on February 2 and reached Puri a day after. She had then moved to Berhampur and Bhubaneswar till she came to Cuttack on February 19.Her father also told the police that he had last heard from her when she rang up and informed that she was in Puri.
