Honda inaugurates its 1st Skill Enhancement Centre in Odisha

The new centre operational from today will empower local youth with job-oriented technical skill training in the city. Ltd. today inaugurated its 1st Skill Enhancement Centre in Odisha in collaboration with Government Industrial Training Institute, Cuttack. The new centre operational from today will empower local youth with job-oriented technical skill training in the city. The new Honda Skill Enhancement Centre was inaugurated in the august presence of Mr. A K Panda (Deputy Director – Manpower & Planning, Directorate of Technical Education & Training, Odisha), Dr. Hrushikesh Mohanty (Principal, Industrial Training Institute, Cuttack), Mr. Sanjul Saxena (Assistant General Manager, Customer Service Technical, Honda 2Wheelers India) and other dignitaries from Honda 2Wheelers India. Hondas Skill Enhancement Centre at ITI Cuttack is equipped with a fully functional workshop with two-wheelers and service infrastructure to give practical training on technical aspects of two-wheelers maintenance and repair to students. On completion of one-year training program, Honda will also support with recruitment opportunities to successful candidates at Honda dealerships. On this initiative, Mr Pradeep Pandey, Senior Vice President – Customer Service, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, Honda 2Wheelers India proactively supports Skill India Mission to empower Indian youth. The Indian 2Wheeler industry is getting ready for its biggest shift to new BS-VI emission norms and demand for skilled technical manpower will go up in near future. Keeping this as a priority, Honda has established its 1st Skill Enhancement Centre in Odisha. The new centre here is a testimony to our commitment to up-skill local youth and enhance their employability.” Hondas CSR commitment towards Skill India Mission Fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, Honda has taken several initiatives in the direction of Skill Development. In order to bridge the gap between requirement and availability of trained manpower in the automotive sector, Honda is setting up Skill Enhancement Centres across India. Currently, Honda operates 40 skill enhancement centres across 18 states in India. These include Odisha (Cuttack), Madhya Pradesh (Satna, Jabalpur, Bhopal & Ratlam), Bihar (Patna), Telangana (Hyderabad & Sircilla), Karnataka (Mysuru & Mangalore), Kerala (Palakkad &Kozhikode), Uttarakhand (Dehradun),West Bengal (Kolkata & Asansol), Haryana (Panipat, Rohtak & Gurugram), Gujarat (Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Sarkhej, Ankleshwar & Vadodara), Delhi-NCR (Jaffarpur & Nandnagri), Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Madurai and Sivagangai), Uttar Pradesh (Kanpur & Meerut), Chhattisgarh (Bhilai), Maharashtra (Pune, Nasik, Dhule & Palgadh), Andhra Pradesh (Vizag & Tirupati), Assam (Guwahati) and Punjab (Bathinda and Patiala) benefiting over 2900 students.
