Cuttack: Weekend lockdown clamped in Cuttack from April 24, Find all the details

The Twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have witnessed a spurt in new cases. As many as 587 cases were detected in Khurda (including 468 from Bhubaneswar), 251 in Cuttack, 219 in Puri, 123 in Balasore and 100 in Mayurbhanj.

In view of the massive surge in Covid-19 cases in Odisha, the state government issued a new set of guidelines to control the spread of coronavirus on Monday. The government has declared a weekly shutdown of all the urban areas of the state; however, emergency services will continue during this shutdown.

According to the information received, goods transportation and markets will be open. The dhabas & restaurants parallel to the national highways will remain open; however, only take away food parcels are allowed. In the same way, people employed in essential services will be able to move freely in shutdown only after they show a pass on the day of the shutdown. Media employees are exempted from the curfew. Anganwadi, school, college etc. will be closed. Patients will be able to do the necessary work by showing the papers.

Special Relief Commissioner Vishnupad Sethi has said that coronavirus cases in the state have been increasing rapidly over the past week. In such a situation, the government has taken this decision to break the infection chain. This shutdown will continue from April 24 to May 15.

New guidelines issued by the Odisha government:

Maximum 50 people have been allowed to participate in the marriage festival. A maximum of 20 people will be able to attend the funeral.
In the same way, the government has prohibited weekly markets and shopping malls. People are not allowed to sit in the food court or any hotel, only take away is allowed.
Only parcels are allowed from the dhabas located on the national highways. The film hall has been allowed to run with an audience of 50 percent.
