The Naveen Patnaik government of Odisha has decided to extend the lockdown in the state till June 1, earlier a 14-day complete lockdown was imposed in the state till 19 May.

The Naveen Patnaik government of Odisha has decided to extend the lockdown in the state till June 1, earlier a 14-day complete lockdown was imposed in the state till 19 May. The government has taken this step because of the massive surge in new cases of Covid-19.

The government has issued a statement saying that strict lockdown will continue in the state from 5 am on 19 May to 1 June. Apart from this, there will be a complete lockdown from 6 pm Friday to Monday 5 am on weekends.

In the official order issued by the government, it has been said that people will be allowed to buy necessary things within the radius of 500 meters of their houses between 6 am and 12 noon. During weekends, they will be able to get out of the house only for medical services. The order said that the purpose of the lockdown is to control the movement of common people and there will be no restriction on vehicles carrying goods.
