BERHAMPUR: A 17-year-old girl, whose marriage was stopped in Kandhamal's K Nuagaon on March 3, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the house of the man whom she was supposed to marry at Shalaguda in the same district on Monday.On Tuesday, officials of the district administration along with child rights activists visited the village to inquire into the circumstances that led her to the man's house and take the extreme step. Tulasi Sahu, a Plus II student of K Nuagaon, allegedly killed herself when Chandan Behera, 22, the prospective groom and his family were away.Later, they broke open the door and took her to hospital, where doctors declared her dead, said sub-divisional police officer (Phulbani) S N Murmu.On March 3, both Tulasi and Chandan's parents had agreed to marry them after the girl attains 18 years of age on the advice of officials and child right activists.
