Freedom fighter's kin still critical

Doctors said Babula's condition shows that he has not eaten or drank anything for last few days. He was rushed to SCB medical college and hospital on Thursday night as his condition was not good. "We are providing best medical treatment to him," added Das. SCB authorities have formed four special team of doctors to ensure proper treatment and monitor his condition round the clock. Babula, who was missing since April 17, was found by police from Mancheswar area in a semi-conscious state on Thursday.

CUTTACK: Health condition of Babula Panda , the grandson of freedom fighter Laxmi Indira Panda , who was traced by police on Thursday after going missing for 10 days, remains critical.Babula had to undergo dialysis at SCB medical college and hospital here on Friday as his kidneys are not functioning properly. He has been suffering from acute dehydration. Doctors said Babula's condition shows that he has not eaten or drank anything for last few days. "Sometimes severe dehydration also affects kidney. Babula is not able to speak anything so we are not able to ascertain whether his present condition is due to dehydration or was he suffering from some kidney related ailments," said Dr Chitta Ranjan Kar, nephrologist treating him. Besides, he is not in a proper mental state. Suspecting any brain related disorder, doctors conducted his MRI test on Friday. "MRI report suggests that he suffered from brain stroke. We have conducted few more tests to ascertain his exact condition," said principal of SCB, Dr Siddartha Das. "We are providing best medical treatment to him," added Das. He further stated that after arrival of the test reports only anything concrete can be said about Babula's health condition.Babula is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. SCB authorities have formed four special team of doctors to ensure proper treatment and monitor his condition round the clock. As per direction of the chief minister Naveen Patnaik , all treatment facilities are being provided completely free of cost to him. Doctors are waiting for Babula's relatives as only after talking to them they can get a clear picture about his health history. "It is necessary to know about his previous health record as then only we can treat him effectively," said a doctor.
