OHRC team visits Sishu bhawan

"Since 2015, lot of things has changed in Sishu Bhawan. The team members interacted with the patients, their attendants and inquired about the health care facilities and quality of treatment provided to them.The team members also reviewed sanitation and cleanliness condition of the hospital. CUTTACK: A team of Odisha Human Rights Commission( OHRC ) on Friday paid a surprise visit to Sishu Bhawan , government run pediatric hospital, and examined its infrastructure and health care facilities.The four member team visited the hospital in the morning hours and moved around the different wards. The team inspected some official registers and also held discussions with the hospital superintendent, Saroj Satpathy and doctors.Team members said that the commission has received complaints regarding poor health care facilities and sanitation condition in Sishu bhawan. We cooperated fully with the OHRC team," said superintendent of the hospital, Saroj Satpathy.

They enquired about the measures taken by hospital authorities to ensure proper hygiene in the hospital. The team inspected some official registers and also held discussions with the hospital superintendent, Saroj Satpathy and doctors.Team members said that the commission has received complaints regarding poor health care facilities and sanitation condition in Sishu bhawan. And to find out the exact truth, they have been assigned to check the facilities."We have reviewed the infrastructure and facilities in Sishu Bhawan and will submit our report to the commission," said Ashok Biswal , a member of the team.Notably, Sishu bhawan had hogged limelight in 2015 after over 60 infants had died within a span on 12 days in the hospital. The hospital had received lot of flak for poor infrastructure and improper health care. The 416 bed hospital attracts critical patients from across the state."Since 2015, lot of things has changed in Sishu Bhawan. Our ICUs and wards have been developed and infrastructure has been upgraded. We cooperated fully with the OHRC team," said superintendent of the hospital, Saroj Satpathy.
