Seven injured in fire mishap in Banki

Along with the two families, the employee of the gas agency, Papu Behera was also injured in the mishap. Even Ganeswar's brother Bidyadhar Rout and his wife, who live in the neighbor, also came to his house see the new gas stove. "After installation, when the gas stove was lighted there was huge spark due to leakage of gas and all the seven persons present in the house sustained severe burn injuries," said inspector in charge of Banki police station, Biswa Ranjan Sahoo. "It seems the fire accident occurred due to leakage of gas as the cylinder is completely intact," said Sahoo. The injured were provided preliminary treatment in Banki health centre but as their condition deteriorated they were rushed to SCB Medical College and hospital.Till filing of the report no case was registered by police in the matter.

CUTTACK: At least seven persons, including two women and two children, sustained severe burn injuries after a leaking LPG cylinder caught fire at Brahmapura village in Banki in the district on Saturday.Police said Ganeswar Rout (51) had taken a new connection of LPG cooking gas and an employee from the gas agency had come to his house in the evening to install the cylinder and cooking stove. Out of excitement, Ganeswar, his wife and his two sons were standing near the kitchen.
