MCI team inspects Doon Med College

Principal of Doon Medical College, Dr Pradeep Bharti Gupta, said, “There is 19% deficiency of doctors which is within the range of getting LOP. DEHRADUN: A three-member team of Medical Council of India (MCI) officials on Tuesday conducted an inspection of the Government Doon Medical College and Hospital to check compliance of 14 criteria given to the college by an MCI team during its previous inspection held in October.This was the third inspection of the college in view of its application for Letter of Permission (LoP) from MCI in order to start its academic session for the third year. The first ever MBBS batch from the college had started its academic session from August 2016.Earlier, the institute was functioning without pathology and microbiology laboratories while the academic faculty was also on scantier side. According to norms laid down by the MCI, a medical college should not have deficiency of over 20% out of the total requirement of academic staff, but in previous inspection the deficiency was registered at 25%.In Tuesday’s inspection, the medical college succeeded in compliance with all the observations. Overall, the MCI was satisfied with compliance observation.”
