Retired Roorkee teacher murdered over personal enmity

Roorkee: Unidentified assailants shot dead a 68-year-old retired teacher in Salempur Rajputana village near Roorkee on Tuesday night around 8.30 pm. The victim, Nakli Singh Saini, was at his home when three unidentified armed men entered his house and fired shots at him. After conducting postmortem, the body has been handed over to the family of the victim.” Property dispute is suspected to be the reason behind the crime.Rajbahadur Saini, 44, eldest son of the victim, who registered a complaint with police, said, “Three bike-borne men came to our house and two of them approached my father. One of them then shot at my father and fled in the bike.”Saini, who is currently posted at Tehri jail as head constable, has named four people in his FIR.He said that one of his uncles was murdered in 2013 in their native village in Deoband by a rival group over property dispute.

One of them then shot at my father and fled in the bike.”Saini, who is currently posted at Tehri jail as head constable, has named four people in his FIR.He said that one of his uncles was murdered in 2013 in their native village in Deoband by a rival group over property dispute. “While all the accused were sentenced to jail in 2017, they still contemplated revenge from them,” he told police.“In November 2017, I had approached police to register a complaint against notorious gangster Sunil Rathi and others as, through a letter, they had threatened me and my entire family for dire consequences. I am sure they are behind my father’s murder,” Saini said.Police have registered a case under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the complaint of Rajbahadur Saini against four people identified as Thath Singh, Adesh Saini Samrat, Rajesh Saini and Nepal Singh.Roorkee circle officer, Swapan Kishore Singh, said, “We are examining the facts associated with the case and if involvement of accused is found true we would arrest them. After conducting postmortem, the body has been handed over to the family of the victim.”
