Haridwar: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath who was in Haridwar on Monday said that all issues related to the sharing of assets of the irrigation department between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, which had been hanging fire for about 17 years, will be sorted out within two months. Yogi was speaking after laying the foundation stone along with Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat for a UP Tourism guest house to be called Bhagirathi Paryatak Awas Griha. Prior to laying the foundation stone, Yogi and Rawat also attended morning Ganga aarti at the Har-ki-Pauri.The UP Tourism guest house will be built on 2500 sq mtr of land provided by the Uttarakhand government on the banks of the Ganga and will cost Rs 41 crore. Its construction, Yogi said, will be done on the pattern of the hill state's architectural style and will be completed within 24 months. “Uttarakhand has given land to Uttar Pradesh for constructing a guest house at Badrinath as well”, the UP CM added. Stressing that promotion of tourism should be a joint venture for the two states, the UP CM said that his government was "ready to collaborate in every way with Uttarakhand." “Both the states should also work together to keep the Ganga clean and maintain its uninterrupted flow. The river cannot be freed from pollution unless Namami Gange becomes a people's movement,” he added. He said that he has “two expectations from Uttarakhand.” “First, there should be adequate water in Ganga for UP. Secondly, no sewage should be allowed to go into the river.” He claimed that by December, UP will effectively ban flowing of sewage into the river.Incidentally, both Yogi and Rawat arrived in the city late on Sunday night and spent some time in discussing the issues related to the two states. Referring to the talks they held at Alaknanda Hotel on the banks of the Ganga, state urban development minister Madan Kaushik told mediapersons, “The talks between the two CMs were held in a very cordial atmosphere. Most of the asset sharing issues have already been settled during the talks.”
