Doon accident victim dies after choking on his tongue

"His tongue got cut due to the impact of the accident and he died after choking on his cut tongue," police said. DEHRADUN: In a freak incident, a 21-year-old college student died after choking on his tongue after he met with an accident on Sunday.Alok Durah was riding a bike in Premnagar area of Dehradun when it rammed a truck. Both were second year students of BSc Agriculture in Doon PG College in Selaqui area on the outskirts of the city. The accident ripped off a part of the victim's tongue and he died after choking on it, police said.He was a resident of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal , his friend Joshua R Johnson, 22, who was also on the bike, also died in the accident.

Johnson was a native of Idukki district in Kerala.Giving details, sub-inspector Shishu Pal Negi, told TOI, "Both were on their way to Selaqui from Premnagar when the accident took place. Prima facie it seems that they were over speeding and rammed a tractor near Bansiwala."Police said that Johnson died on the spot with severe head injuries and Aloke, who was riding pillion, succumbed to injuries during treatment at community health hospital in Premnagar. "His tongue got cut due to the impact of the accident and he died after choking on his cut tongue," police said."The eyewitnesses who saw the incident told police that both were not wearing helmet at the time of the accident. Although they were carrying the headgear," cops added.
