72-yr-old Doon resident dies of heart attack, fear of snakes causes panic at venue

Dehradun: A 72-year-old resident of Indira Nagar in Premnagar died after a heart attack at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) where she had gone to participate in the celebrations of International Yoga Day on Thursday. The woman, Sudha Mishra, fell unconscious near one of the entry gates of FRI and was taken to Government Combined Hospital, Prem Nagar, where she was declared brought dead.According to the medical superintendent of Premnagar hospital, R K Ahluwalia, “She was brought dead to the hospital at 3.25am. Symptoms indicate that she suffered a major heart attack.”A team of 30 doctors, 108 paramedical staff and a fleet of 27 ambulances were posted at the venue.Meanwhile, fear of snakes hidden in the lush lawn of the venue temporarily sent people into panic after some of them complained they felt a sting.“Most participants who complained of a sting were actually bitten by an insect or a non-poisonous scorpion.
