Governor awards 34 toppers for good performace

Dehradun: Governor KK Paul on Thursday awarded toppers of class ten and class twelve of Uttarakhand Board exams with the ‘Governor’s award’ at a function held at the Raj Bhawan. He also awarded toppers of Poorva Madhyama and Uttar Madhyama exams conducted in Sanskrit. He said that along with text books, they must ensure to read other good books.Education minister Arvind Pandey also addressed the students. A total of 34 students received cash prizes of Rs 7000, Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 which were given to those who stood first, second and third in these exams respectively. Each topper was also presented with a book based on PM Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme.Three government schools in the state who showed good results in board exams were also awarded Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 for developing their libraries.

The first position was bagged by Government Inter College (Ratirketi, Bageshwar), the second by Government Girls Inter College, Pedul, Pauri Garhwal and the third by Government Girls Inter College , Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal.Congratulating the winners, Paul said that besides IQ , EQ (emotional quotient) was also important for succeeding in one’s work and life. “Those with a high emotional quotient were more aware of their social environment and could build better equations with others,’ he added.The governor also gave the students the "Three P" mantra for success — Passion, Patience and Persistence. He said that along with text books, they must ensure to read other good books.Education minister Arvind Pandey also addressed the students.
