But less than a month later, he was shown the door again.Elaborating on the reasons, BSP state president Kuldeep Baliyan said, “BJP is our enemy no. I would only say that my expulsion is a preposterous act of the BSP and I would never join it in future.”

Roorkee: Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP ) on Sunday expelled its prominent minority community leader from Haridwar Mohammed Shahzad for “anti-party activities.” The wedding ceremony of Shahzad’s son had been attended by CM Trivendra Singh Rawat along with cabinet ministers Madan Kaushik and Prakash Pant on Saturday. According to sources, this did not go down well with the party’s top leadership which accused Shahzad, a former MLA of the party of “cosying up to the saffron camp.” Incidentally, this is the third time in past four years that Shahzad has been expelled from the party. The 52-year-old leader had been re-inducted into the BSP on June 25 after a gap of two years. But less than a month later, he was shown the door again.Elaborating on the reasons, BSP state president Kuldeep Baliyan said, “BJP is our enemy no. 1 as we are fighting a long political battle with the saffron party for many years. Shahzad was hobnobbing with BJP leaders for his own vested interest at the cost of our party. Therefore, Behenji (BSP supremo Mayawati) decided to expel him from the party.”CM Trivendra Rawat along with cabinet ministers Madan Kaushik and Prakash Pant had surprised all by attending Shahzad’s son’s wedding which was organised in his native village Lambholi in Manglaur area of Roorkee. The visit was widely believed to be a political exercise connected with the recent zila panchayat parishad bypolls. It was being speculated that BJP along with the help of Shahzad, who has the support of 10 BSP members on the zila panchayat board, was trying to strengthen its majority in order to replace the current chairman of the zila panchayat board with their preferred candidate.Meanwhile, Shahzad reacted to his expulsion by saying, “I have done nothing wrong. I have know CM Trivendra Rawat, Madan Kaushik and Prakash Pant for a long time as they had once been my fellow legislators in the state assembly. I would only say that my expulsion is a preposterous act of the BSP and I would never join it in future.”
