Heavy to very heavy rain likely in Uttarakhand

Dehradun: Another spell of heavy to very heavy rain is likely to hit Uttarakhand between Sunday and Monday. The meteorological centre has issued an ‘orange’ alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.According to Bikram Singh, director of meteorological centre, “The impact of the current spell will be felt till Monday morning and isolated places are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain. Minimum temperature were recorded at above normal in the hilly areas.The highest maximum temperature at 37.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tuini in Dehradun district while the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 15.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar in Nainital district. Widespread rains are likely till Monday before the weather clears up on June 17.”Light to moderate rains have lashed parts of the state in past 24 hours with Haldwani and Ukhimath receiving 40mm of rainfall each while Gairsain recorded 30mm of rain.Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures settled at normal in plains.
