3 child lifters arrested in Haridwar

Haridwar: Police on Sunday busted a child lifter gang and arrested three members of the gang, including two women and recovered two children from them. One child was sold for Rs 80,000 to a contractor in Bijnor four months ago. Police also arrested the contractor who bought the seven-month-old baby boy.SP city Mamta Vora said, “Sadika, a resident of Kaliyar reached Haridwar railway station four months ago for going to her maternal home. She was in depression and Mamta and Maya lured her and brought her to Bijnor where the baby was handed over to gang leaders Naresh and Ghanshyam who then sold the baby. Police said that both the children were stolen from Haridwar railway station.The accused have been identified as Mamta, 50, a resident of New Basti in Haridwar, Maya alias Kali, 55, a resident of Lal Mandir colony in Jawalapur police station, Naresh Kumar, a resident of Nagina of UP’s Bijnor district.

Mamta and Maya both were paid Rs 15,000 each for the job.”Police added that Sadika narrated the incident to her husband after which he approached police.Interrogation revealed that Maya also stole a 5-year-old girl but when nobody came forward to buy her, Maya then left the child in an ashram in Bijnor.
