Roorkee: Roorkee police arrested a former municipal councillor in connection with the rape of a five-year-old girl on Monday after he allegedly tried to facilitate a settlement between the victim’s family and the accused.According to circle officer (Roorkee police) Swapn Kishore Singh, Haji Fazlur Rehman, 50, a former municipal councillor from Mahigram ward, was arrested in connection with the rape of a five-year-old girl more than 20 days ago in the town.“We have arrested Rehman under section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender) and sections 15 and 16 of Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” said Singh.On Saturday, police had arrested one Saood Hafiji for allegedly raping the five-year-old girl.
