1 killed, 1 hurt in bike-truck collision in US Nagar district

RUDRAPUR: An 18-year-old youth died after the motorbike he was riding collided head-on with a truck on Kichha road near Darau village in Udham Singh Nagar district on Thursday morning. Simranjeet suffered serious injuries on his head and died on the spot. Both riders were thrown off the motorbike after the collision and the bike’s fuel tank started leaking and caught fire. Another 17-year old youth, who was riding pillion, suffered grievous injuries in the accident. Sukhdev Singh, father of the deceased, accused police for not acting against overloaded vehicles and speeding.

Another 17-year old youth, who was riding pillion, suffered grievous injuries in the accident. The bike later caught fire and was burnt completely. The deceased has been identified as Simranjeet Singh, a resident of Veeru Nagla village.Police said that Simranjeet was riding towards Kichha from his village with his friend Gurudev Singh and the accident took place in front of Gurunanak sugar mill near Darau. Both riders were thrown off the motorbike after the collision and the bike’s fuel tank started leaking and caught fire. Simranjeet suffered serious injuries on his head and died on the spot. Gurudev was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was referred to a higher center.The driver of the truck, Yusuf Khan of UP’s Bareilly has been arrested and booked for causing death due to negligence as well as rash and dangerous driving. Sukhdev Singh, father of the deceased, accused police for not acting against overloaded vehicles and speeding.
