Rivers flowing close to danger mark, more rains predicted

In Chamoli district, Alaknanda was flowing at 954.20 metre (danger mark is: 957.42 m), Nandakani was at 868.70m (danger mark is: 871.50 m) and Pindar’s reading was 768.93 m (danger mark is 773 m). In Rudraprayag district, Mandakini was flowing at 621 m (danger mark is: 626 m). Those on the Char Dham Yatra and travelers going to remote areas in the hills have been asked to proceed with caution as the rains may trigger landslides.Meanwhile, almost all the rivers in the state, including Ganga, are flowing close to the danger mark. While the level of Ganga at Haridwar was 291.65 m on Saturday (danger mark is: 294 m), the Kali river in Pithoragarh was flowing at 888 m (danger mark: 890 m) and Sharda river in Champawat was at 219.20 m ( danger level : 221.70 m).Due to heavy rains and subsequent landslides, 50 rural roads have been closed for vehicles.
