Dehradun: A video showing Uttarakhand cabinet minister Arvind Pandey having a heated argument with a TV journalist during an interview went viral on social media on Thursday. In the clipping, Pandey, who holds the key portfolios of education, sports, youth affairs and panchayati raj, can be seen arguing with the scribe and reprimanding him for making “an unreasonable request.”After answering questions about budding sportsmen in the state and Uttarakhand’s entry into the Ranji Trophy, the minister can be seen losing his cool on being asked by the scribe if he would be able to recite the multiplication table for 13 since he often takes impromptu tests of other teachers. “I am not a teacher. I am the state education minister and am not answerable to farzi (fake) reporters like you,” the minister can be heard saying angrily. He also can be seen thumping the reporter on his chest. While Pandey could not be contacted for his comment, an official close to him said that the news channel’s team had come to him with an agenda of defaming him. “The minister hadn’t attended their function on July 17 as he was busy. That is why the channel sent its reporter with the intention of taking revenge,” the official said.Incidentally, Pandey had hit headlines last year when during a visit to a government school, he asked a school teacher how much would two negative signs add up to and then proceeded to give an incorrect answer to his own question. The incident which was recorded on video went viral soon after.
