Earlier, Gautam Thakkar (1965) and PV Sindhu (2011) had won gold in singles category in the championship.

I want to congratulate Lakshya and his family.”Lakshya told TOI that he was grateful to his coaches at Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy. “I will work harder to win more feats for my country,” he said.Sen created history by clinching Badminton Asia Junior Championship after defeating top seed and reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in the title match held in Jakarta on Sunday. Sen has become only the third Indian player to win a gold medal at the Asia Junior Championships. Earlier, Gautam Thakkar (1965) and PV Sindhu (2011) had won gold in singles category in the championship.
