Dehradun: A team of vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested a mandi inspector on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a local wholesaler in Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district.One Purushottam Agarwal filed a complaint on August 20 stating that he applied for a mandi license to sell his farm produce. Finding his complaint true, vigilance sleuths formed a team to arrest the accused official.When the complainant, along with the team, reached the mandi to pay bribe, Chandra told him on phone to pay the amount to his colleague and mandi inspector Bhuwan Goswami.“Chandra then met Goswami who demanded Rs 8,000 for the license. Instead of paying the bribe, Agarwal approached vigilance. The team arrested Goswami from his office while accepting the bribe,” a vigilance officer said, adding that they are trying to arrest Chandra.The officier added that both will be booked under sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.Additional director general of police and director vigilance, Ram Singh Meena, has announced a cash reward of Rs 1,000 for the team for the arrest.
