Voter cards ration cards found from 23 Pak citizens staying in Doon

Dehradun: Around 23 Pakistani citizens are staying on long-term visas (LTVs) in Dehradun found possessing voter I-cards and ration cards. During an extensive probe, sleuths found that as many as 12 Pakistani Hindus had voter cards and 11 of them got ration cards made. Our team found that some of them had got identity cards made using forged documents. On basis of which, a report was prepared and forwarded to the Dehradun district administration for further action into the matter.” This was revealed during an investigation conducted by the local intelligence unit (LIU) of Dehradun Police.

An inquiry has been ordered by the district administration into the matter.For a period of 15-20 years, around 275 Pakistani Hindus, mainly Sindhi Hindus, have been staying in different areas of Dehradun, including Raipur, Dharmpur, Patel Nagar and Vasant Vihar. The local intelligence keeps a regular watch on them and their activities.As per provisions, their visas are extended on regular intervals and they are not authorized to hold a ration card or a voter identity card.While going through their records, LIU sleuths found some of them had got their identity cards made which could establish them as Indian nationals. During an extensive probe, sleuths found that as many as 12 Pakistani Hindus had voter cards and 11 of them got ration cards made. As per the findings, these documents were made in the past two to seven years.Confirming the information, DIG Garhwal Ajay Rautela told TOI, “We have the list of Pakistani Hindu nationals staying in Dehradun and they are monitored regularly. Our team found that some of them had got identity cards made using forged documents. On basis of which, a report was prepared and forwarded to the Dehradun district administration for further action into the matter.”
