Dehradun: A 40-year-old businessman was allegedly shot dead by three unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in Balawala in Dehradun on Tuesday.Aadesh Baliyan, who hails from Shahpur in Muzaffarnagar district, resided in a flat near IT Park in Dehradun. He owned a shop which supplied construction material.On Tuesday, he had gone to a site at Gular Ghati Road to unload some building material. While he was standing on the road with a few others, a two-wheeler came to a halt nearby. All three men on the two-wheeler opened fire. Six bullets were fired out of which three hit Baliyan.People tried to catch the trio but the assailants managed to escape. Baliyan was taken to a private hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.A police team from Raipur police station rushed to the spot. Station officer (Raipur) Hemendra Negi told TOI, “We spoke to family members and friends. Prima facie, it appears to be the outcome of professional rivalry. However, it is too early to comment on the issue.”Footage of CCTV cameras in the vicinity is being examined and call records of the deceased are being checked. “None of those present nearby were injured. It shows that someone who had a rivalry with Baliyan was behind the crime.”
