School officials now also booked for causing miscarriage, SIT formed

Police has now added more sections against five school officials who have been arrested. The SSP said that the girl had alleged that she was administered homemade medications by the school officials to terminate her pregnancy. The officials have now been booked under sections 313 (causing miscarriage without women’s consent) and 212 (harbouring offender) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Dehradun: The Uttarakhand police department has set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the gang rape of a class X girl at a Dehradun boarding school by four of her seniors. Additional director general of police (law and order) Ashok Kumar said that the orders to set up the SIT were issued by DIG Garhwal Ajay Rautela on Thursday evening. Notably, the Uttarakhand high court on August 22 had directed the state government and the police department to set up SITs in all districts to deal with crimes against women.Meanwhile, Dehradun SSP Nivedita Kukreti told TOI that the ultrasound report of the rape survivor had revealed that she was not pregnant. The SSP said that the girl had alleged that she was administered homemade medications by the school officials to terminate her pregnancy. The officials have now been booked under sections 313 (causing miscarriage without women’s consent) and 212 (harbouring offender) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They had been booked under 120 b (criminal conspricacy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the IPC and relevant sections of POCSO Act.The 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by four boys at a boarding school a month ago. The school allegedly tried to cover up the incident.
