As students leave NIT, Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat promises new campus

DEHRADUN: Almost twenty days after around 900 students left the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar - Uttarakhand 's only such institute - demanding "a permanent and safe campus", CM Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday assured them that "a suitable campus will be constructed for them in Sumari near Srinagar. In his tweet, he further said a proposal to transfer 122 acres near Sumari to NIT Srinagar will be brought before the cabinet once the civic body polls are over in the state. "The CM in a tweet said the state government will construct separate roads for students to reach the administrative and faculty wings of the institute.
