Char Dham yatra ends as Badrinath portals closed for winter

Dehradun: Amid special prayers and chanting of Vedic hymns, the portals of the Badrinath temple were closed for winter on Tuesday. With the closing of the gates, the Char Dham yatra has officially ended. The other three Himalayan shrines, which are part of the Char Dham, including Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath, have already been closed.The portals of Badrinath were closed at 3.21 pm. Badri Kedar Temples Committee media in-charge Harish Gaur said, “The doors of the temple were closed at 3:21pm on Tuesday. Since the opening of the temple on April 30, a total of 10.58 lakh pilgrims have offered prayers here.” The closing ceremony was attended by 5,237 devotees.Special pujas were performed by chief priest Ishwari Prasad Namboodiri to the presiding deity Lord Vishnu in the presence of a host of temple committee officials.For the occasion, the temple was decorated with marigold flowers.
