Dehradun: Just days after announcing that patients from other states like UP and Himachal Pradesh would not be admitted to Government Doon Medical College Hospital (GDMCH), the hospital in another decision set a time limit on how long the attendants of patients can stay in the facility. The attendants would be allowed to meet patients for just two hours per day (between 10 am and 11 am and between 4 pm to 5 pm). We have directed the hospital staff to be polite and helpful towards all.”Meanwhile, 108 GVK emergency services will deploy three Inter Facility Transfer Ambulances, each at GDMCH, Gandhi Shatabadi Hospital and Prem Nagar Hospital to ferry the patients in need, especially expecting mothers. Only emergency ward patients would be allowed one attendant each, but they would need permission from the hospital authority.Other major change to sweep in from Wednesday include making it mandatory for the hospital staff to wear their ID card while at work. We will do whatever it takes to ensure the same. According to a TOI source, the decision to make it mandatory for the hospital staff to wear ID card comes after rampant complaints from attendants regarding the presence of middlemen in the hospital who influence the patients to shift to private pathology labs and private doctors for treatment. The decision to roll out new norms has been taken after taking note of the ‘undue crowd’ at the hospital, instances of stealing and major brawl between the attendants and hospital staff; especially during the night hours when the hospital staff is comparatively lower than day hours.Speaking to TOI, Dr K K Tamta, medical superintendent of GDMCH, said, “We want this hospital to be the best among all.
