2 men shot dead in separate incidents near Roorkee

Roorkee: Two men were shot dead in separate incidents here since Monday evening.In the latest incident, a 47-year-old man was shot dead by his friend in Mandawali village near Manglaur on Tuesday. In the scuffle that ensued, Nillu took out a country-made pistol and shot dead Javvad. He was working as a clerk with the Paniyala Sahkari Ganna Samiti.Police said that they received information about an unidentified body lying on the roadside on Paniyala-Lathardeva Link Road around 6.30 pm on Monday. Locals who were working in the nearby fields alerted police who rushed to the spot. Police should trace the people responsible for the murder.”

The deceased was identified as Javvad Ali, 47.According to police, two friends – Javvad Ali and Anuj Nillu – were loading sugarcane on a tractor trolley owned by the former when a heated argument broke out between them over a previous dispute. In the scuffle that ensued, Nillu took out a country-made pistol and shot dead Javvad. Locals who were working in the nearby fields alerted police who rushed to the spot. They later sent the body for postmortem. However, the accused managed to flee the spot in the meantime.Girish Chand Sharma, in-charge of Manglaur police station, said, “We are on the lookout for the accused.”Police are yet to register a case in the matter.In the other incident, unidentified persons shot dead a 27-year-old man while he was returning home after work on Monday.The victim was identified as Prince Saini from Shivdaspur village near Piran Kaliyar. He was working as a clerk with the Paniyala Sahkari Ganna Samiti.Police said that they received information about an unidentified body lying on the roadside on Paniyala-Lathardeva Link Road around 6.30 pm on Monday. The identity of the deceased was ascertained later.Roorkee circle officer Chandan Singh Bisht said, “Based on a complaint lodged by victim’s father Peetambar Saini, we have registered a case against unidentified persons under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.” “The motive behind the murder is not clear at the moment. However, the injuries on the body reveal that he tried to fight the assailants before he was shot in the head.”The victim’s body was handed over to family members after postmortem on Tuesday.Vijay Pal Saini, hailing from the same village, said, “Prince Saini comes from a very humble family. They had no dispute of any sort with the villagers. Police should trace the people responsible for the murder.”
