“The results will not have any effect on the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as the Congress will be wiped out and the BJP will win in all states,” Bhatt said. Dehradun: At the Bharatiya Janata Party office in Dehradun, the initial excitement of the early voting trends gave way to disappointment by the evening when the Congress galloped to victory in big states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.The disappointment was writ large on the faces of party’s state leadership.Asked what was there for the party to learn from the Tuesday’s poll results, BJP’s state president Ajay Bhatt said, “If in spite of the Congress being the fountainhead of corruption, the people choose it then it is for the people to think, not the BJP .”Notably, Uttarkhand minister Dhan Singh Rawat was part of the BJP campaign team in the five states where the polls were termed as the semi-finals to the 2019 general election.The party’s state president, however, refused to call the poll results a first sign of the Congress having an edge over the BJP.
