Dehradun: Over 300 dogs of every colour, size and breed imaginable, dressed in colourful accessories were seen milling around at the Rangers College Ground on the sunny Sunday morning.Fur ball lovers were seen cheering as the animals jumped around enthusiastically at the dog show being organised by the Doon Valley Kennal Club.Though breeds such as Pugs, Pomeranians, and Labradors were a major attraction, a Shih Tzu trio attracted most eyeballs.Amid cheers, dog owners walked around the ground with their pets especially prepared for dog walk.

Grabbing the eyeballs of the spectators with their fine lustrous fur or huge structure, the show turned out to be quite entertaining.“I have never seen such a small dog,” exclaimed Trishala Goswami who had come from Mussorrie with her Labrador to participate in the dog show.Dog owners from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan had reached Dehradun along with their pampered pooches to participate in the show.Apart from the big and obedient Doberman, German Shepherd, Labrador and Dalmatians, the rare breeds such as Chihuahua and Rottweiler were also seen at the show.Their larger counterparts — St Bernard, Bull Mastiff, Nap Mastiff and English Mastiff — also hogged a lot of limelight.Meanwhile, organisers said that people nowadays opt for smaller breeds as it is easier to maintain them in small houses.“Most people live in flats and hence, the demand of smaller dogs has increased.
