They are not letting the students move out of houses and there is an atmosphere of fear among them,’ says Nasir Khuehami.He added that JKSO has set up a proper bridge for students in consultation with the state government and allied departments to pay heed to their problems and harassment.

Police forces have also been deployed at several city colleges.The right-wing activists protested outside several colleges including Baba Farid Institute of Technology, Alpine Institute and Sridev Suman Subharti University and demanded the institutions should “immediately rusticate the Kashmiris students.” They even demanded institutions to give it in written that they won’t admit anymore students from Kashmir.According to police reports, more than 1,000 students from Kashmir are studying in various colleges in Uttarakhand.Nasir Khuehami, spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Organisation of Uttarakhand, told TOI that right-wing members thrashed over 12 Kashmiri students and two of them are admitted in hospital. The organisation has requested the students to connect with the available helplines, where the students can report their grievances, issues in campus or outside at educational institutions across the state.Meanwhile, talking to TOI, Atul Krishnan, the owner of Subharti University, said that Bajrang Dal Men broke the window panes on the college campus and even abused the staff.“We have given everything to the police in written,” he said adding that the right-wing members wanted the college administration to handover the Kashmiri student who had posted some anti-national comment in his social media account.BFIT registrar Bhupendra Singh claimed that VHP and Bajrang Dal members attempted to forcefully enter the college campus and threatened the administration to immediately rusticate all the Kashmiri students. The college administration informed the police and the protestors were dispersed from the spot later in the evening.Another set of fringe groups, over 200 in number, staged a protest outside Alpine Institute where they demanded the administration to give it in written that the institution will not give admission to Kashmiri students.“As they were so large in numbers, we were forced to give in written that we will rusticate the Kashmiri students and won't admit any from now onwards,' said institute principal Bhawna Negi.Talking to TOI, SSP Dehradun, Nivedita Kukreti said that police force has been put on alert and policemen are deployed outside various educational institutions across the city.“We do not have any knowledge of thrashing of any student. But we are on alert so that nothing untoward can happen” she added.
