Budget postponed Uttarakhand MLAs to donate a monthrsquos salary

DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand assembly on Friday paid tributes to CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama terror attack and unanimously passed a resolution offering a month’s salary by all MLAs to help families of martyrs. Meanwhile, the state’s annual budget, which was to be tabled in the House on Friday, will now be laid on Monday.An official communication from IAS Association Uttarakhand cadre also said that the state officers will donate a day’s salary to the family members of the martyrs and the amount would be sent to the CRPF headquarters in Delhi. Two CRPF jawans from Uttarakhand were among those killed in the Pulwama attack.Terming the terrorist attack in Pulwama a “cowardly act”, speaker Prem Chand Agarwal said that the country needs to take strong action to wipe out terrorism.Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that all efforts would be made to help the affected families.Leader of Opposition Indira Hridayesh in her tribute said that the country stood with the Centre on the need to end terrorism.The assembly was adjourned till Monday.Meanwhile, Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya also condemned the Pulwama terror attack and termed it a dastardly and inhuman act.The governor cancelled all her programmes scheduled for the day and held a condolence meeting at Raj Bhawan in which the entire governor house staff was present.
