Dehradun: Terming the state budget as a visionary one, Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Monday afternoon said it aimed at benefitting all sections of society, while the opposition Congress -- which abstained from the assembly proceedings -- called it directionless.“The budget is a reflection of the positive work done by the state government. It is a budget which will set the tone of development in the next fiscal. We have covered different aspects, and this budget is aimed at benefitting the people,” said the chief minister. After presenting the budget, state finance minister Prakash Pant said, “The budget has been prepared keeping in mind the feedback collected from people through direct interaction and social media. We have tried to incorporate people's suggestions and feedback.” Pant added that the budgetary allocation for every sector -- be it health, education, forest or tourism -- has been increased when compared to the current fiscal.Congress state chief Pritam Singh said that there was nothing for the people of the state. “My point is that in the Rs 48,663 crore budget, nothing will be left for the people and for development of the state after making provisions for disbursing salary, pension and repaying loans and interest of over Rs 28,000 crore,” said Singh. The Congress state chief stated that the budget has nothing for generating employment. “People are migrating from the hills in search of jobs. Much was expected from the budget, but the finance minister has not made any provision to provide employment to the people of the state,” said Singh.“The BJP government in the state says it had signed MoUs with industrialists for investment of Rs 124 lakh crore during the Investors Summit, but at the same time it should tell the people and the investors whether the state has the required land bank for the projects," Said Pritam Singh.Manoj Rawat, Congress MLA from Kedarnath, said, "The BJP government has failed to do anything for Gairsain. The BJP is in power in the state and the Centre, but the government is yet to decide on the issue of permanent state capital for the state. The previous Congress government had made a positive start for making Gairsain the capital but the BJP government is delaying the process.”Rawat claimed that the BJP government is only repeating the earlier schemes. “This (BJP) government has no vision to help farmers or the unemployed youths. How can people call the BJP government a progressive one,” added Rawat.
