As strike by private doctors continue patients forced to travel to UP

The private doctors are demanding changes in the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010.IMA president (Haridwar chapter) Jaspreet Singh said that the Act should be implemented only after modifying it to suit the state. NAINITAL: As the strike by private medical establishments continued for the eighth day on Friday and government hospitals remained packed to capacity, patients were forced to travel to Bareilly, Lucknow and Delhi to get medical attention.TOI visited two government hospitals in Kumaon - Dr Susheela Tiwari Government Medical College and Hospital and Soban Singh Jina Government Base Hospital in Haldwani - and found patients being kept on stretchers as no beds were available.Rahul Singh, a resident of Pithoragarh district, said that his brother who is suffering from kidney issues was referred to a hospital in Bareilly due to unavailability of beds.Meanwhile, members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Haridwar threatened to intensify their protest.
