Dehradun: The state headquarters of Congress at Rajpur Road is abuzz with speculations of some political heavyweights joining the party in the presence of Rahul Gandhi on March 16. Even the senior leaders did not shy away from dropping hints, indicating the entry of ‘some known faces’ in the Congress president’s rally at Parade Ground.While some claimed that few rebels who had left the party in 2016 may return, others were of the view that some non-political personalities may enter the party-fold.State Congress vice-president Suryakant Dasmana told TOI, “It is still too early to comment on anything, but our party high command will take the decision. Be ready for some surprises.”Without naming anyone, Dasmana said that now people have started realizing that Congress is the only party which has the vision for development and is committed towards the people.On being asked about the profile of the leaders likely to join the party, Dasmana said, “Let the suspense continue till March 16.”Congress spokesperson Garima Dasauni, too, claimed that speculations were rife of new entries in the party. “We came to know that state chief had discussions with some persons, but we are not aware of the names. Possibilities are that some prominent personalities are going to join the party on Saturday,” she said.
