1 dead, several hurt as bus, truck collide on Roorkee-Haridwar highway

Amarjit Singh, in-charge of Civil Lines police station, told TOI that a manhunt has been launched for the truck driver. Naresh Lumar, the bus driver, succumbed to his injuries, while four other severely-hurt passengers were referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. Roorkee: A 50-year-old bus driver was killed and around a dozen passengers were left injured after a head-on collision between the bus and a truck coming from the opposite direction. Dinesh, 26, an assembly technician in the LED bulb industry, suffered multiple fracture and head injuries in the accident.Meanwhile, the truck driver managed to escape after the collision. The incident took place near Beldi village on Roorkee-Haridwar national highway at about 11 pm on Friday.The chartered bus was carrying employees of a LED bulb manufacturing industry situated at Sidcul in Haridwar.

The incident took place near Beldi village on Roorkee-Haridwar national highway at about 11 pm on Friday.The chartered bus was carrying employees of a LED bulb manufacturing industry situated at Sidcul in Haridwar. The bus, with 20 passengers on-board, was on its way to Roorkee to drop employees of the industry at their homes when the collision happened.Receiving information of the accident, police reached the spot and the injured were taken to a medical facility. Naresh Lumar, the bus driver, succumbed to his injuries, while four other severely-hurt passengers were referred to AIIMS Rishikesh."After finishing his work shift around 10 pm, my nephew Dinesh Pal was on his way back home when the truck rammed into the bus in which he was travelling. He is now undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dehradun," said Satish Pal. Dinesh, 26, an assembly technician in the LED bulb industry, suffered multiple fracture and head injuries in the accident.Meanwhile, the truck driver managed to escape after the collision.
